Sales Engineer
Location: Brownhills, Staffordshire
Salary: Excellent DOE + Bonus + Benefits
Are you an aspiring Engineer who would like to develop your career, post apprenticeship or graduation, in the Automotive sector, in a commercial role whereby you will gain exceptional sales and key account management training, and the opportunity to travel abroad visiting a prestigious OEM customer base in Europe and the US?
Reporting into the Sales Director, a vacancy has arisen for a technical person, a Sales Engineer, who would like to develop their career in the Automotive Sector. Working as part of a dynamic commercial and planning team, in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will specify and sell castings and machined components and systems to the Truck, Off Highway and Automotive sectors to name a few. The role is key for further growth of the business and has great scope for future career development within the organisation. Full training will be given to candidates with strong technical acumen with a desire to be customer facing.
The Role:
- Assisting the SD, you will manage key accounts, building relationships with existing customers to ultimately increase revenue
- Upon training, full commercial management of several key accounts, with a prestigious OEM customer base, involving new business quotation and price adjustments
- New Business Development and subsequent new product development in collaboration with the client and various internal stakeholders
- Develop relationships with target accounts from existing database of prospects in line with company strategy
- Generate leads and convert new enquiries into ordering customers
- Focus on developing business in new markets in line with the Group strategy
- Communicate at a technical and commercial level with design, project, production, supply chain and logistics, quality managers and directors:
- Identify customer requirements
- Select suitable product(s) to match their requirements – solution selling
- Present proposals to customers including product demonstrations/evaluations if necessary across sites
- Overcome objections and win business
- Liaison between customer and the various departments within the company to ensure on time delivery of products
- Logistical overview of the account raising concerns on supplier or customer issues
The Person:
- A technical qualification in an engineering discipline e.g., NVQ level 5 or higher, apprentice trained or graduate
- You will be a proactive person, currently in a Technical Sales or Engineering role wishing to develop a career in Key Account Management, build customer relationships and win new business
- Industry specific knowledge is not required as full training will be provided however, a desire to work within a metals based, fast paced manufacturing environment is desirable
- A team player, able to problem solve and deliver technical solutions to customers
- An inquisitive and energised person with a driven personality is sought who has a thirst for learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility for travel is required, on an international basis, up to twice a month in Europe and the US post training
