About the job
Alfa Laval UK & Ireland is looking for a Field Sales Engineer as part of the Service Sales Team in our UK Food & Water Division to cover the east territory from Yorkshire through to the south coast and including London.
Working within the Service Sales Business Unit of our UK Food & Water Division, the Field Sales Engineer will collaborate with the Business Unit Manager, sales colleagues and service operations team to realise our potential in their market.
This is an external, home-based role and requires utilising traditional methods alongside digital collaboration tools.
You will spend 80% of your time out of the office. Travel is a major factor and is predicted predominantly in the U.K with frequent overnight stays to customer and company locations.
You will help to facilitate our service sales growth ambition through key account management, management of service contracts, service coordination and customer support by offering a superior customer experience.
Key to this role will be to help accelerate the digital transformation in the Service Sales Business Unit.
You will contribute to the development of the financial performance in compliance with overall company objectives, strategies and plans.
Day-to-day activities include;
  • Implement and achieve agreed strategies, goals, priorities and activities with and through the BU Service Sales Manager.
  • Preparation and maintenance of Sales Plans.
  • Follow established sales processes and guidelines to promote and sell Alfa Laval products and services.
  • Responsible for monthly / quarterly forecast for potential sales volumes and gross margin.
  • Be active in the market and focus on making visits, meetings and interactions with already existing customers, focusing on customer needs understanding and highlighting the value of our products and services.
  • Develop value quotes reflecting the customer needs stressing the unique selling points and follow up together with both the Technical and Inside Sales Team.
  • Use the CRM tool to log all sales activities relating to the customer and other tools in a consistent and qualitative way, to support the sales process and take decisions.
  • Manage customer relationships from a Sales & Operational perspective through various communication channels.
  • Work in cooperation with the Capital Sales Team to develop growth opportunities.
  • Support the preparation of service contract execution and fulfilment.
What you know
Direct Sales experience is a must, with a demonstrable track record of achieved sales, ideally in after sales & service.
You have excellent written and verbal communication in English.
Although desirable, a technical qualification is not essential for this role, however knowledge of heat transfer & separation technology, would be highly beneficial.
Competency in Microsoft applications including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Dynamics 365 CRM or similar.
You have strong business acumen and a high attention to detail.
Familiarity with the Food, Dairy and Beverage & Waste and Water Treatment industries would be a further bonus.
