Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Sales Engineer will have responsibility for meeting & exceeding sales targets – by maximising potential revenue, and securing orders, from existing and new accounts. You will utilize your sales, engineering and people management skills to continually improve sales & tendering performance and exceed individual, and business, targets. You will develop and communicate tender action plans to external customers, surpassing their expectations in order to establish & maintain Wellstream Processing UK as their main, and recurring, supplier of Process Optimisation Technologies, Equipment & Services. In order to achieve these objectives, you will engage with and be supported by NOV’s Tendering, Technical, Service & Operational teams to align the relevant offering with the client’s requirements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Planning & Reporting
- Contribute to local sales plan generation, and implementation,
- Contribute to the maintenance of an accurate sales pipeline using NOV CRM system to support accurate revenue forecasting.
- Communicate monthly sales activities, and key market, project, and client updates to your line manager and relevant tendering & operational teams
Market & Client-base understanding
- Align your sales plan and activities with customer buying processes, local legislation, industry strategies and government policies.
- Align your sales plan with client operational activities, long-term strategies and install-base of NOV’s legacy equipment and that of our competitors.
- Build a strong live and online network of relevant individuals and organisations.
Client Development (New & Existing)
- Build and maintain relationships with relevant personnel in the local client-base
- Share applicable NOV capabilities, experience and technical expertise with key client personnel.
- Communicate future plans of key accounts within the Wellstream UK team.
Opportunity Qualification & Development
- Develop opportunities from leads through to qualified enquiries, liaising with technical & tendering teams as required.
- Develop an understanding of the key principals, differentiating factors and typical uses of NOV’s core technologies
Tendering Support
- Support in development of tender strategy and input on wider prioritisation of tendering activities.
- Proactively support in achieving target of maximising tender efficiency and win %.
Follow-up, PO Closing & Lost Job Feedback
- Pursue feedback from clients on submitted quotations to ensure that NOV’s offer is understood and is competitive.
- Ensure swift alignment through tender clarification and project handover process.
QUALIFICATIONS
- HNC / HND in relevant technical subject (essential)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Technology (desirable)
EXPERIENCE
- Working knowledge in a technical, operational or project-related role (essential) Or Working knowledge in a technical sales role (essential)
- Working experience in the upstream oil & gas industry (desirable)
SKILLS, TRAINING AND SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE
- Understanding of the upstream oil & gas production industry (desirable)
- General understanding of the high-level commercial models and supply chain within the upstream oil & gas industry (desirable)
- Understanding of Topside Production Processing Equipment & Facilities (desirable)
- Experience in negotiating commercial deals for technology and / or equipment sales in any engineering-focused industry (desirable)
