Department: Calgary Showroom.
Reporting To: Senior Designer.
Location: 1-6130 4th Street SE, Calgary AB, T2H 2B6.
Hours: 9:00AM to 5:30PM.
JOB SUMMARY:
At Merit Kitchens, the Junior Designer and Sales Consultant will work independently and collaborate with the Senior Designer and sales team to support showroom requirements and generating new business opportunities. The Junior Designer will use honed technical skills to develop drawings and documentation essential to projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Connect by phone, email, or video call to potential leads and find opportunities to quote on jobs.
- Consult with clients to determine needs, preferences, safety requirements, and purpose of space.
- Develop detailed plans and 3-D models using computer-assisted design 20/20 software.
- Develop plans, elevations, cross sections, and detailed drawings, and advise on selection of colours, finishes, and materials.
- Estimate cost and materials required, generate quotes.
- Prepare plans and specifications for final designs in accordance with current practices and codes.
- Attend site meeting before, during and after installations to verify quality assurances and service follow up within company structure and guidelines, in cooperation with assigned installers.
- Set, achieve, track and report: sales, quotes, and leads on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, discussing and reviewing these with your team lead.
- Coordinate and work with other Sales/Design professionals and provide support when required.
- Generate leads by reaching out to diverse markets and turn these leads into sales.
- Build a strong network by attending industry events, trade shows, and conferences to stay up to date with current and upcoming trends, market conditions, etc.
- Manage incoming calls, utilizing computer technology to handle high call volumes.
- Resolve product or service problems by clarifying the customer’s complaint; determine the cause of the problem; select and explain the best solutions to solve the problem; expedite corrections or adjustments; follow up to ensure resolution.
- Education in interior design and kitchen design.
- Proficiency with 20/20 design software.
- Experience in sales and business development required.
- Strong knowledge of sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques.
- Experience in kitchen cabinet or related industry considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.

- Professional appearance and telephone manners.
- Solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and complete tasks in a timely manner.

- Have your own vehicle with a valid driver’s license (car allowance is provided).

- Commissions with advanced annual base wage of $36,000 ($1,384.62 bi-weekly).
