About the Role
Colne Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a salaried GP to join our friendly team on a part time basis, 2-4 sessions per week. The post-holder will be part of the GP team managing a busy, interesting clinical caseload, spread over the populations covered by Colne Medical Centre, ensuring the highest standard of care for all registered and temporary patients.
The post holder will carry out all the duties reasonably expected of an NHS general practitioner using the standards expected by the GMC and RCGP in line with appropriate national and/or local guidelines. These include:
- In accordance with the practice rota, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery, telephone and electronic consultations and queries, visiting patients’ homes, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a time fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other care workers within the organisation. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for healthcare needs.
- To assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions e.g. asthma, diabetes. Providing counselling and health education.
- Making appropriate and timely referral of patients for further opinion and treatment using Lexacom system. Following all practice, NHSE England guidelines as appropriate.
- The post-holder will be required to work flexibly within the practice:
- Surgeries – the post-holder will work agreed sessions per week on a flexible basis.
- Home visits – the post-holder will be required to carry out home visits occasionally, during surgery, in an emergency.
- Administration – the post-holder will be required to ensure that all relevant administration is completed during normal working hours. This includes completion of medical and insurance examinations, in a timely and appropriate a manner, to meet the needs of the practice's registered patients.
About the Candidate
- Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
- Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
- Be on the NHSE medical performers list
About Us
The successful candidate will be employed by The Colte Partnership, which was formed in June 2017 and consists of 9 local practices across Colchester and Tendring, caring for approximately 95,000 patients.
We work as three collaborative primary care networks (PCNs) which span across Colchester and Tendring:
- Ambrose Avenue Group Practice, Riverside Medical Centre & Ardleigh Surgery
- Mersea Island Medical Practice, Tiptree Medical Centre & Rowhedge Medical Centre
- Walton Medical Centre, Colne Medical Centre & Wivenhoe Medical Centre
There is a wide socio-economic demographic served within this area, which provides an interesting and varied case mix. You will be joining an enthusiastic team of clinicians and administrators. You will be well supported with on-going professional development (training support, CPD and peer support). The role will contribute to the improving quality of care of our patients across the network of practices.
