Overview
The ePowertrain System Safety Engineer will be responsible for developing system safety requirements and work products for Accelera’s electric powertrain control systems for commercial vehicle applications. This position requires a strong knowledge of transmission systems, power electronics, motor controls and vehicle control systems. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers, to design, develop, and test control systems that meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the performance of the safety and reliability analysis of ePowertrain systems using tools such as hazard analysis and risk assessment, fault tree analysis, failure mode and effects analysis, etc.
- Perform impact analysis and develops safety work products to meet electrified powertrain functional safety compliance.
- Work with internal and external suppliers to fulfill Functional safety requirements
- Developing a Comprehensive System Architecture Using SysML Tools: Incorporating Boundary Diagrams, Activity Diagrams, Use Case Diagrams, and State Machine Diagrams
- Define system safety architecture and work with controls group to develop safety mechanisms.
- Ownership of design verification methodologies at the system level, ensuring that the system meets the safety requirements and specifications through testing, validation, and certification activities.
- Provides planning directions to V&V team for verification and validation of safety architecture.
- Conducting Rigorous Qualitative and Quantitative Analyses: Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Alternative Safety Analysis Approaches
- Collaborating with other engineers and stakeholders to identify and implement improvements to system design, functionality, performance, and safety.
- Following the ISO 26262 mandated safety lifecycle simultaneously with ASPICE processes at every stage of V-cycle.
- Ensuring alignment of functional safety activities with system engineering methods and tools such as SysML, UML, Medini etc.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in system safety engineering or related field, with a focus on automotive applications, electronics, software and controls
- Deep knowledge of functional safety methods, tools, standards, and regulations, such as ISO 26262
- Proficiency in using requirements engineering tools such as Polarion or DoorsNG or Medini
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team, good communication and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards for electric powertrain control systems, such as ISO 26262
