ABOUT THE ROLE*

We are looking to appoint a talented and experienced Safeguarding professional to lead our Safeguarding practice at Generation UK and Ireland. This is a remote role, though there will be many opportunities for in-person connection.
You will be the Designated Safeguarding Lead, responsible for managing and implementing our Safeguarding Policy, supported by a team of strong deputies. A critical part of this role is to build strong safeguarding awareness across the organisation for staff and learners. You will be responsible for training and developing staff on Safeguarding, and the key source of support, advice and expertise on this topic. You’ll manage all safeguarding referrals, including complex cases, working with external agencies where necessary. You’ll ensure all safeguarding activity is effectively evidenced, including documentation of all safeguarding records.
The role requires working across the UK and Ireland. Safeguarding in the UK is more heavily legislated than Ireland, though in principle safeguarding approaches across both countries are aligned. We are looking to appoint a candidate with strong safeguarding experience in the UK, who is interested in the opportunity to upskill on Safeguarding practice in Ireland as well.
As Safeguarding Lead, you will work across the organisation with a range of colleagues and stakeholders. You’ll sit at the heart of the Generation UK&I, in the Learning Team, and you will report to Mangala Nanda, the Chief Learning Officer. You will work very closely with colleagues within the Learning Team who deliver training and support for learners, including: your Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads, instructors, mentors, employability coaches, and learning managers. You’ll also work with colleagues from different teams with Generation UK&I and external partners. Safeguarding is the most important thing we do, and in this role you will play a crucial role of ensuring the charity meets all its safeguarding responsibilities, while sustaining a strong safeguarding culture across the organisation.

ABOUT GENERATION*
Generation's mission is to train, coach and support people into life-changing careers that would otherwise be inaccessible to them.
We are a UK registered charity, founded by McKinsey and Company, delivering tailored programmes to recruit, train and place unemployed people into work. Through our unique approach, we also solve a wide range of employer challenges—skilled talent shortages, poor job performance, lack of diversity, and high turnover.
Generation launched globally in 2015, and has grown quickly to become the world’s largest demand-led employment initiative. We have placed over 50,000 people into roles (all of whom have suffered some form of barrier to work), working with over 5,000 employer partners to date across 16 countries and 30 professions.
Generation UK&I is currently running training to employment programmes in the West Midlands, London, Manchester, Dublin, Leeds and Scotland. We run a range of tech bootcamps with partners including The Prince’s Trust, Amazon Web Services, Multiverse and Infinity Works, as well as programmes supporting people into healthcare, the Green sector and customer service roles. In addition, we provide lighter-touch career support for people looking to find work but who don't have a specific profession in mind.
By joining Generation UK&I now, you will become part of an organisation which is determined to play its part in addressing both of these challenges for people in the UK and Ireland over the coming months and years.
