Job description

We are seeking a Programme Manager to support our activities as a partner in The Sir Henry Royce Institute (The Royce). The Royce aims to deliver innovative materials research, bridging between academia and industry to generate positive economic and societal impact for the UK, and a particular focus at Oxford is on energy storage and zero-carbon energy conversion. The post holder will head operational aspects of the Royce at Oxford ensuring efficient operations, resourcing, and financial sustainability of the Oxford-Royce facilities, managing local budgets, and communications within the Royce team at Oxford, and more widely to partners. The role provides an opportunity to be involved in a collaborative project spanning multiple UK based higher education institutes and industry.
This is a critical position within the Oxford-Royce Institute co-ordinating all the activities within the Institute, playing a pivotal role representing the Institute to and reporting to the Hub of the Sir Henry Royce Institute in Manchester. You will support the senior management team in the strategic planning and development of Royce activity in Oxford. You will work in partnership with all levels of seniority within the Department and the broader University delivering this flagship project.
The post is available immediately and runs to 31 March 2027.
With a background in physical sciences or technology you will be self-motivated, able to handle and prioritise a wide portfolio of responsibilities including planning, financial and project management. You will have strong intellectual and analytical skills, including the ability to engage effectively with unfamiliar technical material, sufficient to understand the nature of the work and build credibility with academics, researchers and funding bodies.
The Royce is a UK wide institute with multiple partners working in collaboration to support the UK materials community.
