Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic customer focused Appraisals Coordinator, to work within a small team supporting the Royal Navy in delivering commission transfers, promotions, formal command selections, career management and engagement changes for Royal Navy Officers and Ratings. Coordinators are responsible for monitoring the timely production, delivery and quality of all appraisal reports on Naval Service personnel attached to HMNB Clyde. As an Appraisals Coordinator you will have excellent customer service skills, work well as part of a team and be able to manage workloads to a deadline. This role also provides support and training to Reporting Officers (both military and civilian), Line Managers and military personnel. The role is predominantly based within HMNB Clyde but there are opportunities to deliver support and training to units outside of the base.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The Appraisals Coordinator will: initiate, monitor and finalise appraisal reports for Royal Navy Ratings; initiate, monitor and check reports for Royal Navy Officers prior to submitting them to the Service Personnel Centre; receive and upload reports into the appraisals software when required; provide a high level of customer service to personnel seeking help and advice on appraisals; support the Appraisals team in maintaining office opening hours; support the provision of one to one and group training sessions; liaise with Fleet Directories, MOD Departments and other external authorities as required and; carry out any other reasonable tasks identified.

Person specification

This is a busy, customer focussed role and the successful candidate should have an ability to deal with personnel at all levels. It allows a certain amount of autonomy and so ideally this role suits someone with drive and initiative. With promulgated deadlines determining the pace of work, an ability to manage both time and workloads is essential. A good working knowledge of managing spreadsheets would be useful along with experience of using oracle based Human Resource Management Systems. The ethos supported is that of education and learning and whilst this is delivered to customers, team members are also supported in their own learning and personal development journey.
