An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to work with the Public Protection Unit who are currently seeking a Typist to work within our small Typing pool. This is a full-time position completing 37 hours per week covering the department between Mondays and Fridays on a flexible pattern.
You must be computer literate with previous experience of audio and text production, ideally with and OCR/RSA qualification (Oxford, Cambridge & Royal Society of Arts) or equivalent experience. It is essential that you are able to work independently with little supervision and have experience of working to tight deadlines, contributing to the detection and prosecution of serious crime in accordance with the local policing plan.
You will be responsible for providing word processing and audio typing support in a highly confidential environment.
You will also be responsible for general office administration in relation to the auditing of typing work.
You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as you will be liaising with internal and external personnel on a range of issues to ensure work is completed accurately and to specified deadlines.
You must therefore be organised with the ability to plan and monitor your workload efficiently. The ability to work within a team environment whilst using your own initiative is of paramount importance. A sound working knowledge of Word and Excel is essential.
