Position Summary

T DOT is currently looking for self-motivated and result-oriented Intermediate Level - Robot Programmers (Fanuc Robots) who can work within a team as well as independently with high levels of accuracy and safety.

These positions report directly to the Project Manager. In addition, you may also be required to report to the Managers and Team Leads at the job sites for our customers. The Robot Programmers will work with our customers in Canada and United States to design, test, install, troubleshoot, and maintain Robots and Automation Control Systems.

The role also requires team members to follow customer instructions, respond to line calls and provide programming and touch ups support, production support, troubleshooting, and equipment repair as required in a timely manner. The role requires working around distractions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Job Requirements

  • Provide Programming, Maintenance Support, Production Support and troubleshooting assistance with FANUC Robots and other equipment breakdown.
  • Experience in Start-up, commissioning, installation, safety and run at rate projects.
  • Background in Fanuc Robot programming related to MIG Welding, SPOT Welding, and Material Handling is an asset.
  • Troubleshooting Lincoln Wire-feeders and Lincoln Welders for Fanuc MIG Welding Robots.
  • Able to perform Weld Touch-ups during production while maintaining cycle time and quality welds as per Weld Schedules.
  • Able to perform Preventive Maintenance (PM’s) on equipment.
  • Able to follow safety standard, lockout, tagout and WHIMS.
  • Ability to read and comprehend mechanical drawings, codes & mechanical safety, basic electrical/electronic components, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical equipment, and welding.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills, together with high degree of FANUC Robot programming, mechanical expertise, and computer knowledge.
  • Demonstrate oral and written knowledge in English.
  • Able to work in a team environment, as well as independently without supervision and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work flexible hours and be available for overtime as required during the weekdays and weekends.
  • Able to work during days, afternoons and midnight shifts based on the client and project requirements.
  • Self-Motivated, with ability to follow up on tasks through completion and able to work with deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record for performance and attendance in existing position.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in Programming, Operating and Troubleshooting FANUC Robots.
  • Experience in using different versions of RoboGuide.
  • Experience working with DCS, TCP’s, Calibrating Turntables, Servo-Guns, Setting up Payloads, Weld Touch-ups, Images and Backups etc.
  • Able to set up I/O Blocks, Inputs/Outputs, Ethernets, DeviceNet, IP Address and other communication devices for the Robots and Turntables.
  • Able to calibrate FANUC MIG-Welders, Spot-Welders and Material Handler Robots.
  • Ability to work with Allen Bradly PLC and HMI experience is an asset.

Education and Travel Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Automation and Robotics or Electro-Mechanical Engineering – Automation/Robotics Technician or Technology.
  • Certificates with Fanuc Robots are an asset.
  • Valid drivers license, car insurance and own vehicle as you will be required to drive to customer job sites. (Travel, Rental Vehicle and Hotel Allowance is provided where applicable)
  • Please note: Having a TN VISA or a Canadian Passport with ability to travel to the United States is an asset.
  • Valid and clear Background Check is a must for border crossing reasons.
  • Ability to travel for extended period as per client requests

Physical Demands/ Working Environment

  • Normal amount of standing.
  • Ability to work at a computer workstation.
  • Ability to bend, twist, lift, reach.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ ladders.
  • Ability to travel between Automotive facilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours during the weekdays and weekends. This includes working midnights.
  • Able to travel within Canada for extended stays.
  • Able to travel to the United States for extended stays is an asset.

Start Date: Immediately or as soon as possible.
