What we are looking for:
We are seeking an experienced Robot Operator to join our team, on a part-time basis.
As a Robot Operator, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of robotic installations and performances, combining technical expertise with creative flair. You will be an integral part of the team, ensuring the smooth functioning of robotic projects and effectively communicating with various stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
- Travel and Passport: High availability to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally, to manage installations and performances involving a humanoid robot. A valid passport and fluent English will be essential for international assignments.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Python, Git, and Linux, enabling you to work with robotic systems efficiently.
- Creativity and Performance Arts: Leverage your creative writing and performance arts background or interest to add artistic elements to robotic performances, installations, or media arts projects.
- General Knowledge in Robotics and Electrical Engineering: Familiarity with robotics, Media arts, and Electrical Engineering principles to troubleshoot technical issues and contribute to the development of innovative projects. Remote support will be available.
- Effective Communication: Be able to communicate effectively with the press, clients, general public, and other team members to promote and represent the projects in a professional manner. Strong organizational and scheduling skills will be essential to coordinate events and performances.
- Physical Requirements: Be physically comfortable carrying 20-30 kg suitcases, as some installations may require heavy equipment to be transported. Able to travel with heavy pieces of excess luggage.
- Resilience to Fast Paced Dynamic Environments: Possess a high tolerance for demanding situations, as robotic performances and events may sometimes demand long hours with little or no down time.
- Improvisation Skills: Be quick on your feet and capable of making effective decisions on the spot to handle unexpected challenges during performances and installations.
- Time Zone Management: Manage effective communication and coordination across different time zones, especially when collaborating with teams or clients from around the world.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Performance Arts, or a related field.
- Basic experience with computer networks.
- Basic experience with sound/AV systems.
- Flexibility and calm demeanor in fast paced, demanding settings.
- Willingness to quickly learn any of the above skills if needed.
