Brief Description
What will you be doing?
Starting salary £34,040 raising to £38,305. The role can be based in Birmingham or Manchester.
The role will involve supporting the Road Vehicle Compliance Manager to safely and efficiently deliver the Road Fleet regional objectives which include delivering driver and vehicle operator governance, leading and delivering bespoke road fleet training sessions to reduce driver, operator and H&S compliance risk, and transitioning the road fleet to a zero-emission fleet.
The purpose of this role is to undertake the day-to-day activities to enable the defined road vehicles to be operated in a safe and compliant manner in relation to legislative, manufacturer and Network Rail standards. In the role you will also deliver the required support functions to Network Rails drivers assigned to the central fleet.
The role will require attendance at Network Rail offices, delivery units and sites across the Region as well as deputising for the Road Vehicle Compliance Manager at selected Road Fleet meetings during periods of leave.
About the role (External)
Some of your responsibilities will include:
1. Deliver the required day to day operations of Network Rails Road Fleet Management activities relating to delivering a safe and compliant fleet. These include MOT and safety inspections, servicing, modifications, speeding and parking notices, and customer queries.
2. Deliver the required support to maintain a safe and compliant defined road fleet in line with current legislation.
3. Support the building of and then sustain effective relationships with customers and suppliers, liaising with the Road Fleet Commercial team to improve operations and support the delivery of supplier KPIs.
4. Deliver the required support functions to Network Rails drivers assigned to the central fleet relating to driver training, fuel card, insurance, servicing and short term hire arrangements as well as other numerous other services
5. Support the Senior Delivery Manager in suggesting and assisting in the implementation of quality and efficiency improvements by staying current with legislation changes and improvements in vehicle technology and development.
6. Provide data and reporting as required on both vehicles and drivers on a periodic and ad hoc basis.
7. Support enquiries relating to the Vehicle Tracking System and providing support for route colleagues investigating speeding events in line with the data governance policy.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
- Knowledge of road fleet management
- Knowledge of fleet day to day operations
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of relevant railway geography
- Able to work under pressure with a continuous focus on delivery
- Good communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate a customer focused approach
- The ability to influence stakeholders, suppliers and customers

Network Rail adheres to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the pay range advertised.
Salary: Band 4B, starting salary £34,040 raising to £38,305.
