The Opportunity
We are delighted to be currently recruiting for a Finance Risk & Control Manager to join our highly-regarded Finance Team at our Bristol Head Office. This is a permanent role available at both full time and part time (30 hours per week) and offers flexible hybrid working, typically this will require you to work from the Bristol office 1-2 days per week with a choice of working from home or the office on the other days.
As Finance Risk & Control Manager you will be responsible for the oversight and management of first line risk within the Finance department and will lead on embedding a greater focus, competence and accountability for risk and control across the department.
You will be an engaging and influential advocate for the continuous improvement of the control environment and will act as a central contact providing professional challenge, guidance and coaching to colleagues. You will be confident in providing training and trouble shooting and will ensure our methodologies and governance are efficient and effective.
This role will also participate in committees and working groups outside of the team, co-ordinating and representing input from across the department. The ability to build good working relationships and manage a busy workload are vital.
This is a newly created role and a unique opportunity to define and lead our first line risk strategy. We are a positive, friendly and growing team and are looking for an energetic self-starter to join us.

Key Responsibilities will require you to:
- Act as the central point and primary source of knowledge in the first line for Finance department risk and control issues, relating to regulatory, prudential, compliance, operational, conduct, documentary, reputational and climate risks.
- Work with the Finance Leadership Team to own and update the Risk & Control Dashboard and Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA); ensuring relevant good quality risk & control management information and papers are produced to facilitate timely & informed discussions on ongoing and emerging risk and control topics.
- Oversee the schedule of Key Control Testing so that there is full coverage and compliance across the department.
- Proactive and ongoing risk identification and mitigation, including collaboration with relevant stakeholders across the Triodos Group as appropriate.
- Train and coach staff across the department to increase risk management skills and knowledge. Help to close gaps identified.
- Supporting the CFO to ensure appropriate risk management frameworks are in place to support the discharging of his/her SMCR responsibilities.
- Partner with co-workers across the department to support them in working with 2nd and 3rd line teams, implementing and embedding recommendations for improvement.
- Attend risk related forums and committees to represent Finance, including Non-Financial Risk Committee.
- Maintain oversight of the effectiveness of the Finance risk and control environment and ensuring that we take a proportionate approach to risk management.
- Undertake root cause analysis and identifying and implementing change as needed, including preparing and presenting proposals through to risk mitigation or acceptance.
- Comply with all regulatory obligations and internal governance to help ensure ethical behaviour which delivers fair outcomes for Triodos Bank customers.
What we are looking for:
To be successful in this role you have relevant experience in a first / second line financial services risk and control related role, or as an internal or external auditor, combined with a good understanding of the banking regulatory environment, including knowledge of PRA and FCA supervisory standards related to prudential risk and control.
You will have excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels and will possess the ability to discuss and present risk and control issues in an audience-appropriate and digestible format, e.g. up to board and exec level papers that deliver concise and well-reasoned messaging.
Knowledge of emerging Climate Risk regulatory requirements and sector reporting would be desirable for this opportunity

Offer
In return for your hard work and dedication, you will receive a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 (full time equivalent salary) depending on experience, plus access to our extensive benefits package, where most of our benefits are non-contributory!
