Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.
Background on the Position
Morgan Stanley is seeking an Associate to join the Risk Division's Chief Operating Office (COO) in London. The COO team has responsibility for ensuring the operational effectiveness of the EMEA FRM Division. The role holder will be responsible for providing oversight of the Division's outsourcing and other COO related tasks.
Primary Responsibilities
> Oversight of the implementation of the outsourcing framework in FRM, including
o Providing advice on regulatory expectations and best practice
o Coordinating completion of criticality assessments, outsourcing agreements and updates to the outsourcing inventory and perform quality assurance on all documentation periodically
o Central point of contact in FRM for queries on outsourcing related topics
o Ensuring the service owners in FRM meet internal and external outsourcing related obligations
> Coordinate the Risk COO Risk Control Self Assessment (RCSA)
> Support and coordinate FRM's annual Conduct Risk Assessment
> Support other processes within the COO remit, including ad-hoc requests and PowerPoint presentations

QUALIFICATIONS
> Bachelors degree or equivalent
> Experience in financial services; prior experience in areas relating to Outsourcing, Risk Control Self Assessment or Chief Operating Office (preferred)
> Confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge others, where appropriate, with experience in management by influence, facilitating and gaining consensus
> The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally
> An interest in working in a fast-paced environment, often balancing multiple high priority deliverables
> Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats (proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
> The ability to work independently in a self-directed way in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
