Job description
In Summary
Do you want to be an Apprentice Prevention Consultant and help Aviva achieve leading insurer status in our chosen markets? If yes, this might be the right role for you.Job Description
Location: Homebased – commutable to Bristol and surrounding area with travel
Nobody wants to be in the position where they have to make an insurance claim. That's where risk management comes in. Our Risk Consultants work with clients to prevent or minimise risk to hopefully stop them having to make a claim in the first place. This might mean advising them to do something as simple as fit new locks or a better alarm system. Or suggesting more strategic changes to help them operate more safely and give their customers more peace of mind. It is about pre-empting what could happen and implementing strategies to prevent or minimise the chance of it happening.
Join our Level 4 Apprenticeship programme in our Risk Management team and you’ll be able to earn a salary whilst working towards qualifications and learning from some of the most inspirational people in the industry. And – our apprentice roles are permanent jobs from day one.
This role will give you the opportunity to get out of the office on a regular basis. You will be Homebased, but will travel throughout the Bristol region (any maybe even further afield) visiting client sites! So if you like variety, this could be the role for you.
About the role
As an Apprentice Risk Management/Prevention Consultant, you’ll be supporting the delivery of risk engineering and our prevention services proposition across the business.
As you’d expect from an apprenticeship, there’s a blend of learning and working. You’ll learn from experts, have your own mentor, and work on a wide range of risk management-related projects (more on those in a minute.)
This is a three-year programme where for the first year you will follow our in-house technical training plan and complete your Cert CII (Chartered Insurance Institute Certificate in Insurance) Certificate in Insurance. This will see you learn the fundamentals of risk management. In years two and three, you will move on to your Level 4 Insurance Professional studies, an accredited apprenticeship scheme with an industry recognised qualification.
You can expect training and learning in many areas, including:
- Supporting the management of risk improvements
- Embracing innovation
- Working on strategic projects and initiatives delivering
- Risk Management and Prevention propositions
- Developing your own risk engineering capabilities to enhance your performance
- Working closely with underwriting teams and clients
Expect to spend a large chunk of your time learning on the job and working as part of a team. Of course, there’ll be dedicated ‘off the job’ time to focus on your studies, working with a National Training Provider to support your accredited learning.
Throughout, you’ll be working alongside a community of highly skilled and experienced professionals who will be on hand to support and encourage you every step of the way. This is a brilliant learning environment – a place where everyone is welcome to share ideas, ask questions, and seek out advice.
What’s in it for you?
- Starting salary of £21,700
- Paid Apprenticeship study time
- A permanent role right from the outset
- Support towards relevant professional qualifications and lots of other development opportunities
- Flexible working and wellbeing support
- A great support network to help you grow into your role 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays
- Opportunities to get involved and give back to our local communities with paid volunteering time
- Contributory pension scheme
- Discounts on all Aviva products
- A discretionary annual performance-related bonus
- Share Save scheme
What do we look for?
For these roles you’ll need to:
- Have at least five GCSEs or Scottish National 5s at A*-C or 9-4 grade (or equivalent), including English, Sciences, and Maths
- To have, or be on track to achieve, at least 2 A Levels or 3 Scottish Highers at grades C or above (or equivalent)
We’re looking for people with both confidence and flexibility, as well as the self-motivation and commitment required to develop yourself and build a long-term career at Aviva. You’ll also be naturally curious with a strong desire to learn – someone who can own their own personal development. You’ll combine good problem-solving and organisational skills with excellent team-playing ability and the desire to network across the risk management team.
Where will you be based?
This role is Homebased but whilst we don’t need you to be in the office every day, we do expect there will be a need to travel to our Bristol office approximately twice a week, so you will need to live within a commutable distance. There will also be travel to other locations in the Bristol and surrounding area, as well as across the UK for accompanied site visits (approximately one per month) and technical training sessions and team meetings when required.
