Job Description
What you’ll do:
You’ll work within the Onboarding or Ongoing Know Your Customer Teams acting as a subject matter expert for the due diligence of our Business & Commercial Banking clients.
Within this role you’ll be responsible for conducting due diligence in line with regulatory standards and our commitments to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
As a Risk Apprentice you’ll need to keep up to date with developments in the industry, share information with teams across the division and provide technical expertise to assess potential and actual risk within client portfolios, to maintain our Group-wide policy requirements and minimum standards.
About the Programme:
Starting in September 2023, you’ll be supported through a Level 3, Compliance and Risk Officer Apprenticeship programme – delivered by our training partner Kaplan and supported by your Line Manager and Apprenticeship Learning Mentor.
Whilst on the Apprenticeship scheme 20% of your time will be dedicated to ‘Mandatory Apprenticeship Hours' which can include activities such as, shadowing, reading and completing assignments. This means 80% of your role will be applying your learning in the workplace, in a safe environment.
Your learning and development will be supported by a structured training journey.

As part of this role you’ll learn to…
  • Challenge the business to ensure Financial Crime risks are understood, mitigated and controlled
  • Monitor and report on compliance standards for internal and external stakeholders
  • Undertake due diligence for Commercial Banking clients
  • Explain and support due diligence requirements for both internal and external clients
  • Become a point of contact for managing relationships with Commercial Banking, including collaborating with Anti Money Laundering (AML) partners
What you’ll have:
We’re looking for innovative problem solvers, team-players and people with excellent communication and time management skills.
Entry requirements:
  • National 5 qualifications in Maths and English at Grades 1 – 3 (or equivalent qualifications) AND
  • At least one Higher Grade (or equivalent) by September 2023
