About this role
As Risk and Controls Specialist you will be working across the Global Operations team, implementing the BT risk controls and framework. You will promote the strategy and best practices across all stakeholder groups.
You will support the Operations team across all regions to ensure potential risks and regulatory requirements that could impact the profitability or operations of the unit are identified, the threats assessed, and plans put in place for if things go wrong. You will also provide support to Operations to comply with internal codes of conduct, policies, standards and procedures.
Working with key stakeholders within the Operations, the wider Global CFU and the Region, you will support and challenge Operations to identify and manage risk and regulatory requirements in the most appropriate and effective manner.

What you'll be doing
  • Performs first line risk assurance for the Operations organisation, managing jeopardy from a position of excellent operational knowledge
  • Ensures compliance to BT corporate governance and controls, ensuring processes are up to date and there are senior responsible owners
  • Shapes strategic improvement programmes concerned with quality, ethics and risk with mitigation
  • Manages the quarterly governance sign off and the quarterly GSLT risk report/sign off working directly with N-3 stakeholders
  • Chairs risk forums, including the quarterly Operations risk review and sign off
  • Conducts horizon scanning activity for new and emerging risks both internally and externally, being sure to engage key Operations stakeholders
  • Drives the implementation of the risk controls framework across Operations

Skills and experience you'll need
  • Demonstratable experience and Qualifications in Risk Management - ISO31000 and associated methods
  • Compliance / Assurance knowledge and experience
  • Ability to interpret and analyse a variety of internal and external information sources and relate to BT Business
  • Story-telling with data: strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences
  • Stakeholder management and reporting at all levels
