ROLE DIMENSIONS
As part of the GB Strategy and Transformation function, the GB Revenue Growth Management team is responsible for defining & designing the Category and Commercial Strategies across all categories and channels. They build the physical availability roadmap to achieve the GB performance ambition, anchored in category trends (near- and long-term), and occasion-based demand space development. In summary, working in lockstep with Brand Marketing, the Revenue Growth Management team build the commercial plan through the lens of sub-channels – the plan that drives what, where and how we execute.
The team are decision makers on the sub-channel success models on pack, price, place and promo and are responsible for building medium- and long-term plans to achieve market share ambitions, drive net revenue maximisation and profitable growth.
Additionally, this team are change agents to accelerate the delivery of GB strategy establishing data and technology as a competitive advantage, simplifying the organisation through radical liberation. This role operates as an integral part of this change agency and on setting the direction for the future.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a significant thought-leadership role with a senior stakeholder community. Core work includes:
- Curating a picture of success for store (physical and digital) and outlet by shopper mission and occasion, enabling target setting for availability, visibility, value (price & promotion) and persuasion for Diageo to win in the moments of choice in the future
- Identifying current and future value and volume pools through a robust and iterative category forecasting process through the lens of sub-categories, sub-channels (physical and digital) and price tiers
- Harnessing and systematising data to enable RGM decision-making at pace through Diageo’s Heartbeat reporting platform
- Partnering internally and externally with agencies on advanced analytics and trade promotion optimisation to deliver next gen RGM
PURPOSE OF ROLE
Enable the realisation of Diageo GB’s futures agenda through a solid base of RGM analytics. Using advanced analytics (machine learning, AI) to curate and manage a credible forecast to identify future profit, volume and value pools upon which 3yr+ strategies will be based.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Predicting the future of consumption and retail trends, delivered through a rolling long-range category, channel and price tier forecast
- Align the business behind the assumptions that drive this forecast and ensure it is the jumping off point for annual commercial plan (year +1) and ongoing 5yr strat plans
- Leverage existing Diageo and external technology to consistently improve Diageo GB’s RGM capability in pursuit of next-gen RGM
- Work in close partnership with Diageo’s Heartbeat reporting platform developers to effect best in class RGM-levers reporting and deploy optimisations
- With the Head of RGM – Futures and Advanced Analytics, lead the development and deployment of Diageo’s promotional optimisation tool
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years in FMCG analytics, within category, RGM, finance, insights, data science
- Experience as end-user (e.g. NAM, category manager) would be considered an asset
- Track record of developing and owning forecasts and driving consistent systemic improvements
- Significant experience in advanced Excel including PowerQuery
- Comprehensive understanding of data visualisation tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau)
- Track record of leading transformational business results
- Able to excel when dealing with ambiguity, complexity and working within a fast-paced and entrepreneurial matrix environment
- Ability to build and maintain genuine relationships based on mutual trust & respect, internally and externally
- Highly capable of bringing the outside in – partnering with agencies and taking a deep interest in market developments, taking inspiration from other categories or markets
- Deep personal accountability for great performance
- Strong end to end commercial FMCG understanding, alongside high levels of numerical acumen and attention to detail
- Comfortable deploying program initiatives internally, and happy to showcase Diageo at relevant industry forums
