The Company and the Role:
Wessex Cancer Trust is a medium-sized charity which offers support to people affected by cancer, their families and friends. The charity operates in Hampshire, IOW and Dorset.
Voluntary donations from fundraising, legacies and income from 5 charity shops help fund services which are delivered in 4 cancer support centres, in hospitals and the community throughout the region.
They are now seeking an enthusiastic Retail Shop Manager to manage their shop in Weeke, Winchester to maximise sales and profitability whilst leading and developing a first-class team of staff/volunteers and ensuring the shop is fully engaged with the local community. Taking ownership of the store with overall responsibility for the team and volunteers, working to set targets, objectives and KPI’s, you will ensure the smooth running of the shop, with responsibility for supporting the shop team in enhancing our online retail offering.
The role is permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week across 5 days) with additional
hours/days as required/by arrangement.
Key Features of the Role:
- Being a key ambassador for Wessex Cancer Trust promoting the vision and the mission of the Charity.
- Working with the team to achieve shop and online sales and gift aid targets and all otherKPI’s
- Ensuring the team are trained in pricing, sorting, and replenishing stock, and are able to produce excellent displays in store.
- Maintaining excellent displays in store and in the windows.
- Making sure that appropriate levels of stock are on display in store and that stock is replenished when necessary.
- Focusing on excellent customer service and upselling.
- Maintaining exceptional standards in housekeeping, cleanliness and tidiness, keeping back areas free of clutter and tidy.
- Taking responsibility for the security of the shop premises, maintenance issues, stock and all monies.
- Following all shop procedures and guidelines as listed in the company handbook.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
· Strong demonstrable experience in a similar role, with previous experience of working in a supervisory retail position.
· Experience of working to targets and using KPI’s to make informed decisions with an ability to drive sales and make decisions to impact challenging trading days positively.
· Ability to work with, lead and develop a diverse team and able to form good working relationships with colleagues, direct reports, internal employees, external contacts, customers and donors.
· An understanding or direct experience of working with volunteers.
· Experience of cash handling andreconciliation.
· Knowledge of gift aid processes and experience of increasing gift aid sign-ups
· Basic IT skills with knowledge of MS Word/Excel.
· A flexible approach to working rota which will include Saturday’s and/or possibly Sundays.
· Ideally have a drivers licence and access to a vehicle.
