Staff management
The post holder is responsible for the co-ordination of all aspects of staffing. Advertising and recruitment, ensure all staff have appropriate individual employment agreements and that these are kept up to date. Communicate the business objectives clearly to all staff. Conduct induction and training.
Weekly rostering and ensure any absence being covered. Weekly time sheets checking and approval any discrepancies to be liaised. Management of wages and payment schedule to be prepared on a timely manner. As a manager you are responsible for the wellbeing of the staff, their health and their happiness as employees.
Indian Recipes
You will be responsible for creating Indian fine recipes and mark those ingredients within the POS. You need to prepare guides and videos on various spices usage and how to make Indian curries using those ingredients. You are responsible for promoting Indian spices and cooking methods. You are expected to plan cookery workshops locally to promote Indian spices to local community.
Merchandising
The post holder ensures that the shelves are stocked with products and displays them accordingly for customers. You would liaise with Bookers/Londis managers/Heads and make necessary changes as per their guidelines. You are expected to plan the merchandising according to Londis standards. Track inventories, regular reconciliation of stock must be carried out on regular basis. High value stock to be checked on daily basis.
Shelf edge labels to be updates and maintained on regular basis.
Suppliers’ management
You are responsible for finding new suppliers on various product lines as per the local requirements.
The post holder will be responsible for liaising with the new suppliers on terms and conditions, pricing, any offers Point of sale plans etc.
The post holder will be responsible for liaising with overseas suppliers on Asian products. You would expect to have the knowledge on spices, pulses, flours, wheat, millets, imported vegetables and fruits.
Identify suppliers for seasonal products according to the local demand.
You would be expected to visit London markets in order to source vegetables, meat, fish and other products.
Pricing strategy
Analysing different price points to determine the best price for various items based on customer need.
Create sales plan for stocked products.
Target margin pricing - you are expected to set the target margin pricing in the system based on demands and product category.
Specified Pricing - You need to plan for specified pricing based on sales and demand in order to compete with the market.
Promotional Pricing – you need to manage the Londis monthly promotional pricing in the system and make sure this has been configured correctly in the system. Any missing offers need to be created manually. Seasonal pricing to be planned as per the local and seasonal needs.
Time of the day pricing – you should be checking and maintaining the short dates products and this need to be sold at reduced price before expiry. You should aim to sell short date products at least by cost.
Advertising & promotion
The post holder would be responsible for advertising the monthly promotions, design leaflets for internal promotions and distribute locally. You need to plan for local engagement and activities which would benefit and increase sales.
POS for promotions to be identified and displayed correctly and when promotion ends these needs to be taken off and ensure the system price would reflect this correctly.
Supporting and engaging with local communities – you should maintain a good relationship with the local communities, parish, customers and make sure you Londis would support the events and any community activities in order to create further awareness about the shop.
Accounts management
The manager should maintain bookkeeping and update it on regular basis. The manager should liaise with the store accountants and provide monthly reports, quarterly VAT reports and resolve any issues we might come across. The post holder is responsible for daily takings, checking bank and cash payments, reconcile against bank card statements and any discrepancies missing payments, need to liaise with Worldpay payment team and resolve the issues. Supplier invoices to be filed and payments has been recorded correctly.
Delivery to be checked against delivery note and invoices, any discrepancies to be dealt with the suppliers in a timely manner.
News Paper
You need to make sure the news paper has been delivered correctly by Smith News and any unsold items to be returned on the day. These need to be reconciled on weekly basis to ensure the payments and charges are correct. The coupons to be claimed on time. Magazines to be managed as per our store space and demand. Returning unsold magazines to be done on time without any delays.
POS Systems
The post holder is expected to manage the POS system and train the staff. He is expected to prepare any training materials for reference. Any POS issues he would liaise with the POS provider and resolve it at the earliest opportunity. The manager is responsible for running daily reports, setting user roles and responsibilities, manage and extracts reports for various requirements including accounts, HMRC etc.
Reporting and Analysis
The manager is responsible for producing reports and analytics which would inform the sales, trends, product movements, pricing strategies etc. He should evidence justify his actions with analytical reports.
Manage online portal.
The post holder would expect to know Shopify, Snappy shopper online platform. The post holder is expected to manage updating stocks, pricing, promotions etc using online portal. You should demonstrate the knowledge and skills to design the pages if necessary.
