The Property Design Team:
The Property Design Team are responsible for driving innovation and design excellence across all of the JD Group brands on a global scale. The department delivers inspiring, commercial retail environments for our customers to maximise their shopping experience, whilst maximising profitability for the group. This includes the strategic direction of large, complex store build programmes consisting of new, up-size and refurbishment projects with a specific focus on cost, time, and quality parameters. The team are continually reviewing processes to improve value, reduction of costs and optimisation of all store design and build programmes.
The Role:
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Responsibilities:
- Lead design projects within agreed territory, taking projects from brief through to completion
- Attendance of strategy meetings to obtain design briefs and general direction of projects
- Assist with the on-going development of the JD Store design specific to the assigned territory
- Liaising with key project stakeholders at varying stages of projects, working closely with internal departments (Acquisitions team, Project managers, Quantity surveyors,Retail, Merchandising, Marketing, Multichannel, IT, Security, Health and Safety etc.)
- Coordinate meetings to present store designs and obtain feedback and approval
- Attend site meetings; talking through the design with the project delivery team, check surveys and record site information, ensuring all data is up to date in all documentation.
- Set up drawings in AutoCAD using landlords or survey information ensuring all work is accurate
- Space plan merchandise layouts using a design brief and option targets
- Production of detailed plans, shop fronts, sections and elevations for proposed store designs and site-specific details where required
- Liaise with external professional agencies such as architects, MEP and structural engineers, permitting departments in order to obtain statutory approvals
- Offer assistance and support to the global design studio to support workload in other regions as / when time permits
- Partner with the GHQ graphics team to deliver project specific designs
Position Requirements:
- Previous experience within a similar role is essential
- Manage architects and MEP consultants with regard to store design across asigned teritory
- Experience in a creative role with a leading retail design agency or in-house design team
- Proven experience at all stages of the design process, from conception through to implementation
- Strong retail and commercial awareness, specifically within the sports fashion industry
- Ability to negotiate and influence at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders
- Design creatively to set budgets, demonstrating an understanding of construction costs
- Plan work streams and set deadlines for both yourself and 3rd party consultants
- Interpret briefs accurately and efficiently to deadlines
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivated and driven, with the ability to manage own workload and deadlines
- Strong spatial awareness
- Detailed understanding of construction or shop fitting coupled with a strong understanding of permit regulations
- Be prepared to travel and stay away from home when necessary
- Must hold a valid passport
- Full driving licence
Skills:
- Expert level AutoCAD with working knowledge of how to build dynamic blocks
- Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud suite
- Experience of Revit is desirable
- Expert in visual rendering and 3D modelling
- Ability to use all Microsoft Office programs
- An interest in the use and specification of sustainable
materials and construction methods
Qualifications:
- Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Design or other relevant qualification
