Job description
We are looking for a highly skilled Retail Business Manager to join our nationwide retail team on a fixed term contract of 9 – 12 months. You will join us working 35 hours per week, be based from home and in return will receive a salary of up to £51,301.33 per annum plus excellent benefits.

The Retail and Trading department sits within the Marketing and Income Generation Directorate and comprises a diverse shop estate of 100 shops across England, Scotland and Wales and a growing ecommerce operation. The Retail Business Manager is a crucial role in the profitable operation of our shop estate and reports directly into the Head of Retail and Trading.

Responsibilities of our Retail Business Manager:
As Retail Business Manager you will lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Area Retail Managers, Retail Development Manager and Retail colleagues to maximise sales income and net contribution, delivering our Cats Protection retail business plan. You will exemplify our organisational values and behaviours while driving a commercial approach to the optimal delivery of operating profit and safe ways of working. You will develop mutually beneficial internal and external stakeholder relationships; lead shop teams in the delivery of retailing excellence, including volunteer engagement and development, social commerce, and sector leading pillars of charity retailing; lead in the development, optimisation and growth of our Retail estate, raising awareness of our brand and promoting our work with cats.
What we’re looking for in our Retail Business Manager:
- substantial experience in a similar level charity retail role
- significant change management experience
- experience of setting and managing budgets and working to targets
- working knowledge of shop acquisitions and closures
- excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of people
- proven ability to multi-task and work on own initiative, accurately and under pressure
- self-motivation with advanced organisational skills and an ability to meet deadlines
- flexibility, adaptability, capable of using initiative, tact and discretion
