Acute Medicine is looking for an experienced APA who would like to learn the necessary skills to be an PA. In this exciting opportunity, you will work closely with the admin team to develop your skills while gaining confidence and knowledge. All we ask is that you are a confident and effective communicator, can type with a good level of accuracy, have a good level of English (punctuation is key) and are ready for your next challenge!

The post holder will work with a team of nurses providing admin support as well as supporting the PA's with their workload for the consultants as well as other team members as and when necessary.

The position is 37.5 hours a week but job share may be considered for the right candidates.

The main duties of the post but not exhaustive: -

  • Provide a comprehensive secretarial/administrative service, organising and making arrangements, typing and distribution of documents and reports, recording information and filing, ensuring that all information and documentation is produced to expected standards of performance, and according to agreed timescales,
  • Assist with managing diary commitments by liaising with others, internally and externally, ensuring that all the required preparation is accurate and available, and that all Consultants/clinical professional teams/others are briefed on any difficulties, problems or issues,
  • Maintain constructive relationships with others, within and across Divisions and externally in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services to patients,
  • Be fully conversant with all required electronic systems for correspondence, including specialist computer systems associated with the management of patients and/or health information, and being able to obtain information using the internet
  • Assist with the production of documentation, handbooks, and any relevant information packs, ensuring accuracy, consistency and completeness of information.

The post holder will be supported to learn all the required skills to be able to provide a comprehensive, quality and confidential secretarial/administration.

As an Assistant PA (APA), you will be expected to organise your own workload and coordinate your activated in conjunction with, and supervised by the PA, and Support Manager to ensure that an efficient service is provided at all times. You will be capable of the full administration function within the team and be able to step in to fill gaps to ensure continue of services. It is essential the you are able to exercise initiative suitable for the role and are fully supportive to other colleagues in the administration team.
