TWAM Enterprises Ltd facilitates commercial activities on behalf of Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums (TWAM.) TWAM is a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service managing a collection of nine museums and galleries across Tyneside and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.
We are seeking enthusiastic, customer focussed Retail & Hospitality Assistants to join our team and assist in the operation of our shops and cafés, and in the preparation and running of events at a variety of our venues. We are recruiting for 4 permanent posts. 3 posts are for 4.5 hours per week working Saturday or Sunday. 1 post is for 16.5 hours per week to be worked on a Monday, Wednesday & Friday.
You will deliver excellent levels of customer care and engagement to all visitors. In both our shops and cafes this will involve operating the electronic point of sale to transact cash and credit card sales and reconciling shop and café takings. You will also be required to merchandise shop products and ensure that new products are correctly priced and help prepare and serve food, making hot drinks and carrying out cleaning duties as required.
We may also require you to help in the preparation of venues prior to events, undertake visitor assistance and queue management as needed, and supporting the de-installation and clearing-up of the venue upon completion.
The permanent roles will mainly be based at the Laing Art Gallery, Great North Museum and Discovery Museum in Newcastle upon Tyne. Duties for these roles will mainly involve supporting the smooth operation of our cafés. There will be opportunity to work some additional hours during the week, weekends and evenings to provide holiday and absence cover and support events.
