JOB TITLE: Waiter/Waitress
DEPARTMENT: Front of House
REPORTS TO: Floor Manager/Supervisor
OVERALL SUMMARY
The role of “Waiter” is predominantly focused on supplying guests with an “above and beyond” experience at Etci Mehmet; from recommending the perfect dishes and beverages, to catering to the guest’s needs and applying the personal touches in order to create lasting memories of the visit.
This role requires a varied skill set, where the Waiter must provide fantastic, courteous service in line with company policy and procedure in parallel to liaising with other departments to optimise efficiency within the business.
KEY OBJECTIVES
1) Drive for excellence in guest experience; promoting the business and ensuring service standards are maintained at all times.
2) Proactive approach to improving guest satisfaction and implementing guest requests.
3) Ensuring the safety of guests is a key priority of the business.
4) To ensure that the service cycle is seamlessly delivered in the restaurant with every guest.
SPECIFIC DUTIES (This is not an exhaustive list of duties)
● Know which tables you will be accountable for on shift (on the board).
● Ensure your section is clean, set up according to standards and tidy.
● Find out daily specials (if applicable).
● Find out “Upsell of the Day” to relay to guests.
● Greet and communicate with all guests in a welcoming and courteous manner.
● Take drinks, starters, mains, desserts then hot drinks orders competently and carefully, in this order (as per the service cycle).
● Process orders through the till correctly, and in line with service standards.
● Perform a “check back” on every course.
● Take all payments from the guests; you are completely accountable for all processed payments.
● Give a genuine farewell and promote online reviews.
● Work with the “Helpers” to maintain restaurant standards and ensure the section is ready to take on new guests.
OPENING DUTIES
● Pull all of the chairs down from the tables
● Sanitize all tables with spray and wipe over
● Check all tables are level and stable
● Set up the tables with napkins, knifes and forks and menus
● Ensure the trolleys are clean and stocked
● Polish all side plates with hot water, lemon and vinegar
● Restock birthday sparklers
● Stock each section with full sanitizers, blue roll and wet wipes
● Ask the Chef on the availability of the menu.
● Stock up the trolleys ready for service; butter, lemon juice, oregano, salt, gas
● Set up dry ice station on weekends
● Set up the Desserts station with cleavers, water and forks
● Set up the Pass section with knives, salad tongs and spoons
● Refill large pepper mills
CLOSING DUTIES
● Ensure all payments have been processed, and there are no outstanding tables in your section.
● Ask the Shift Manager if there are any extra duties that need to be performed.
● Check with the Shift Manager before leaving if you are allowed to finish your shift.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £7.06-£11.00 per hour
