Restaurant Server
BEST WESTERN PLUS BURLINGTON HOTEL – FOLKESTONE
TYPE: Full Time/Part-time. This permanent role involves working weekends, bank holidays and evenings to meet the business needs.
PAY: £9.85 per hour + Gratuities

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced Waiter/Waitress to join our team at the town’s highest rated hotel. Folkestone is an up-and-coming seaside resort in the south east of England. Prior experience in a similar quality establishment required as well as experience within banqueting & groups. The hotel caters for a varied mix of business including hotel residents, conferences, groups, weddings and private events for up to 100 diners.
Job Summary
To prepare the restaurant for service ensuring clean cutlery, glass, tablecloths, etc. To Hoover, polish, dust, the area following the agreed cleaning schedule To prepare accompaniments and condiments as appropriate to dishes being served. To meet, greet, and seat guests and offer menus. To take orders for food, drinks etc. and serve. To ensure the ambiance is correct, i.e. lighting (slightly dimmed at night), candles, background music To serve breakfast, lunch or dinner as directed, and assist with bar snacks, and clear tables. To carefully stack china at the wash-up, and rubbish in rubbish bin. To wash and dry glasses keeping the sink area as clear of glass as possible to avoid breakage's. To assist with teas/coffees at functions if requested. To serve at functions. To assist guests in the case of complaint and handle quickly and efficiently, advising the Restaurant Manager/Supervisor of the matter . To present himself for duty in a clean and of presentable appearance. To be aware of the hotel's Health and Safety Policy, and ensure its implementation To be aware of the procedure in the event of fire. To ensure the proper use, care, maintenance and storage of equipment and materials to which entrusted. To formulate guest bills if required for Reception to process. To keep the Breakfast and Wine fridge in a clean and tidy condition stocked to the agreed standard. And keep the breakfast/tray table, clean and tidy. To stock the hot plate before service to ensure hot plates (particularly for functions).
To carry out any other reasonable request of the Restaurant Manager, Duty or General Manager.
Gratuities are paid on top in the form of a fair, equal share tronc system.
