Job description
1. To be accountable at all time to the Chief Executive and to work closely with the Head Chef and other members of the Garden Room/Kitchen Staff.
2. To become established as a role model for St. Margaret of Scotland Hospice and to represent the Hospice as requested by the Chief Executive.
3. To actively assist in the Garden Room Restaurant in the best interests of the Hospice at all times including attending to sales, cash procedures and food preparation and display.
4. To assist in the general promotion and organisation of the Garden Room Restaurant including the self-service display areas as well as ensuring the restaurant is kept clean, tidy and secure at all times. This includes the locking/unlocking of the Garden Room Restaurant when necessary and the movement of stock and furniture.
5. To assist with the presentation of purchased stock and the offer for sale of pre-prepared food and the preparation of home-baking and cold desserts.
6. To assist in keeping a record of all income and expenditure for audit and management purposes and to assist in the administration for the Garden Room Restaurant.
7. To cash-up takings when necessary and optimise the information available from the itemised till analysis.
8. To take appropriate care of the Garden Room Restaurant furniture, fixtures and fittings and to report any maintenance issues immediately.
9. To report all breakages to the Head Chef and Head of Housekeeping
10. To ensure all crockery is clean and maintained to a high acceptable standard at all times
11. To ensure the kitchen and restaurant are left at the end of an evening in a safe clean manner, ensuring control measures within the fridge
12. To ensure all practices within the kitchen are safe and participate in risk assessments and ensure measures from risk assessments are adhered to
13. To actively engage in health and safety issues regarding the Garden Room Restaurant including food hygiene.
14. To represent the Hospice at relevant fundraising and other public functions and events and encourage fellow staff and volunteers to participate in related activities.
15. To ensure positive, good communication and work alongside the Chief Executive to promote the Core Values and Mission of the Sisters of Charity. These are central to all care and work throughout the Hospice by all staff. This will support the Mission Effectiveness Team in its role.
