Job description
Resourcing & Training Coordinator – Guildford
We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is highly organised and an excellent communicator. Reporting to the Resourcing Manager, the Resourcing & Training Coordinator will support in resolving Ecology staff and equipment resourcing requirements on our projects, and also and you’ll take ownership of the training offering with particular focus on our Ecology division.
This dual role is a critical position as Thomson puts a lot of emphasis on training, learning and development. It therefore requires someone with the ability to work at pace and under pressure, to prioritise and problem solve effectively. Thomson’s technical staff work on a diverse range of environmental projects across the UK, so a background in environmental services, particularly ecology, is advantageous, although not essential.
You will coordinate the purchase, storage and maintenance of all ecological survey equipment to ensure the team have all the specialist items they need for their projects. You will achieve this by working closely with our regional teams and utilising our asset management system to monitor location and quantity of items. Ensuring storage areas are well maintained and organised will be essential for success, as will a drive and enthusiasm to learn.
In your training capacity you’ll be responsible for meeting the development needs of the team, upskilling talent, and helping our Ecologists to achieve their personal and technical aims. Your principal responsibility will be coordination of industry-leading training opportunities (both internal and external courses). The successful candidate will continually develop and evolve our Training and Development offering as Thomson grows so you’ll need to be a self-starter who can self-motivate, as you’ll independently deliver the Training function, whilst working alongside the wider Business Operations team.
Whilst we do offer hybrid working, the role will primarily be based out of our Guildford Head Office so the successful candidate must live within a commutable distance.
Responsibilities include:

- Proactively supporting the Resourcing Manager with efficiently resourcing both full-time and casual staff to client projects in line with good health and safety practice, project requirements, budgets and company vision across a wide range of projects.

- Upkeep of our asset management system and inventory of assets so we have strong visibility of stock levels and locations.

- You will be actively involved in attending regular meetings with the terrestrial ecology team and your manager to support their resourcing needs.
- Providing positive, organised and efficient support to the ecology teams going out in the field.
- You will provide additional support to the wider team in other areas as priorities shift throughout the season, and as agreed with your line manager. Examples include but are not limited to, business operations, facilities support, training and health and safety.
- Having an active input in driving innovation and new technology in the company.
Training
- Day to day management of the company’s e-learning platform (TES).

- Review and plan for training to ensure compliance with the requirements of any specific project needs.
- Ensure training is organised in line with individuals defined technical Pathways.
- Support all customer and statutory audits across the site.
- Develop and organise delivery of in-house training courses.
- To liaise with external training providers, sourcing relevant courses in the most cost-effective way and providing site support to the training providers as required.
