Overview

We are looking for Day Residential Support Workers (with a senior position available) and Relief Workers for our new Children’s Home in High Wycombe who can provide a positive living experience for the resident young people by caring for their physical, emotional and social needs.

We are looking for motivated, ambitious and inspiring people to join us on our journey. Not only will you be an integral part of the unique and exciting transition through the unitary process, you will also be entitled to a range of different benefits to make sure you are happy both at work and at home.

Please note that you will be required to undertake Shift Work.

About us

Our Residential Homes provide a safe and nurturing environment for our young people with adverse childhood experiences to be supported to flourish. This will often include children who demonstrate behaviour that challenges. We provide them with a safe, caring community in which they can learn how to build positive relationships and support them in becoming successful adults.

We are delighted to announce one of our residential homes has been rated outstanding by OFSTED.

Quotes from Ofsted:

“Children flourish because of the sincere and nurturing relationships that they have with staff.”

“Staff understand and manage the safeguarding issues relating to the children’s behaviours extremely effectively”.

“The registered manager expertly demonstrates excellent practice. This creates a culture of high expectations and aspirations for children and staff”.

About the role

You will work as part of a team that encourage and stimulate emotional and social growth by devising and organising out-of-school activities, encouraging the children/young people to socialise and to join organisations outside the Home.

In addition, you will work in partnership with families and carers of children, Social Workers and other outside agencies, as required.

Salary: £22,332 - £28,979 per annum depending on previous experience and qualifications (plus an enhancement for sleeping in duties).

About you

You will be:

  • Committed to working with children and young people aged 8 to 18 who present complex and often, challenging behaviours.
  • Have appropriate knowledge and experience of working with children and committed to training and continued professional development.
  • Creative and able to use your own initiative whilst working in a challenging environment.
  • Enthusiastic and highly adaptable to changing circumstances.

In addition, you should possess good written, IT and communication skills. Ideally, although not essential, you should have a relevant qualification (NNEB/NVQ 3 in Care) and experience of working in a social service-related setting (including voluntary work).

Other information

Day Residential Workers will work a shift rota system. Relief Workers cover on an ad-hoc (pro rata 0 hours contract) basis covering the annual leave and sickness of permanent staff.

You will be required to apply for a DBS at an enhanced level. Further information about the DBS Scheme can be found at www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check
