Annual Salary £27,600

Annual Holiday / Benefits 1st January – 15th December
Responsible to Registered Manager
Shift Pattern 3 days on, 3 days off

Key Role
It is the role of a Residential Support Worker to be responsible to the Team Leader, Care
Manager and Operations Manager for the management of the home and the day to day care of the children and young people
Managing Service Delivery
To promote the development of children and young people.
Protect children and young people from threats to health, welfare and development inside and outside of the home environment.
Ensure home environment is appropriate and sensitive to needs of children and young people looked after.
Assist in the running of the home to meet the needs of the child or young person accommodated.
Using the residential community as a means of support and social learning for the child or young person.
Using procedures, policies and activities to provide a positive and enjoyable experience for the child or young person they are responsible for.
Ensuring key stages in the stay of the child or young person such as admissions, discharge, transfers are properly managed and recorded.
Ensuring that a child or young person in crisis or stress is offered appropriate support.
To participate in monitoring, recording and development of care plans.
Promote and participate in the education of the child or young person and take a lead role in project work, ACE activities and education work within the home.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with social workers, teaching staff and other professionals from associated agencies engaged in childcare.
To ensure specific needs of the child or young person are met such as dietary requirements or religious and cultural activities.
To ensure that the child or young person cared for has as much responsibility for their own lives as possible and as appropriate.
To inform the child or young person of their circumstances and rights.
To involve the child or young person in planning and supporting their development and encouraging them to take greater control and responsibility of their own lives.
To provide on-going support as required.
To ensure compliance with Care Standards Act 2000 and the Children Act
1989.
Managing People
To assist the Team Leader, Home Manager and Operations Manager into ensure the supervision of young people within the home.
To attend and engage in the company training plan and all statutory qualifications are achieved if not held
To participate in the staff supervision and appraisal procedure.
To maintain good communication systems between staff and senior management. Use methods of communication, handover and attend Team meetings
Managing Finances
To assist the Team Leader, Home Manager and Operations Manager in:
Assist in the management and operation of budget and petty cash within company guidelines.
To understand and operate the financial system correctly.
Managing Environment
To assist the Team Leader, Home Manager and Operations Manager in:
Helping to create a homely setting to which the child or young person can identify.
Help maintain a safe environment that complies with Health and Safety and other legal requirements.
Help maintain the fabric of the building and grounds encouraging staff and the residents to take full advantage and make best use of the resources.
Assist in the development of links between the home, community and child or young person, allowing the child or young person to become an integrated member of the community.
Ensure compliance of company policies
Personal Responsibility
To assist Aston children's care Ltd to provide the highest standard of Childcare / Social Care with a professional attitude and represent the company in all forums
To maintain professional knowledge, updating this through, learning and training
To monitor and maintain all paperwork and recording, ensuring it is to a high standard, produced by self and staff whilst on duty as required by Aston Children’s care Ltd and other statutory agencies.
To report to line manager immediately any concerns or suspicions of safeguarding, bad practise by other staff employed by Aston Children’s Care Ltd.

Salary: £10.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Birmingham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Education:
- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
- Residential Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
- Support Environment: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care (preferred)
