We are one of the UK's largest children's charities – you may have seen us featured in A well-known Christmas TV advert for 2022. One way we support young people is by offering nurturing environments in small residential homes, located in local communities. You could soon be a valued member of our team at McCarthy House, Sevenoaks, Kent.
We're excited to be opening a Brand New Home for up to four young people (Spring 2023) in Sevenoaks and are looking to recruit a new highly skilled staff team to support our move from our current location in Surry.
A bit about the role
McCathy House is a 4 bed permanent residential home for children and young people aged between 8 – 18 who have various learning disabilities. Action for Children strive to create a homely and supportive environment where the children can thrive and develop by us supporting them with household tasks and all aspects of their care.
Here at McCarthy House , we focus on making sure the children's voices are heard at all times and pride ourselves on providing a collaborative and caring service.
We work hard to ensure the children and young people in our care are experiencing a safe and happy childhood in a friendly, warm and inclusive environment. We are now looking for a Residential Support Worker who will help our team continue to ensure the best possible environment. We are looking for someone who has a compassionate and positive attitude, is adaptable to changing situations and has excellent communication skills.
One of the great things about the job is sharing your skills, passions and interests with young people. From being a whizz on the PlayStation, to creating origami animals and exploring nature, you can inspire children in so many different ways. Children will be able to gain a sense of their own self, and discover their worth as individuals, thanks to the time spent with you.
This is an innovative and exciting opportunity to make a difference!
Let's talk about you

- Understand how to engage with young people.
- Commitment to helping children with disabilities to thrive.
- Have a positive approach and ‘can do' attitude.
- Love working as part of a team.
- Don't worry if you don't have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), we will fund and support you throughout the course.
