We’re responsible for looking after children who have been placed into care. We provide safe homes for them and high quality care to meet their physical, emotional, health and social needs.
You will work alongside permanent staff delivering direct care and support to looked after children in their home environment. Typically this may include:
- Getting children up and ready for school
- Preparing meals
- Collecting from school
- Engaging in activities or trips out together
- Settling children for bed and sleeping in the home overnight
You will need experience of working directly with children and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of child care and child development. Our looked after children can often be challenging and will require a professionally nurturing approach. You will need to be committed, adaptable to children's needs and go the extra mile. We want you to make a real difference in their lives.

- Experience of working directly with children
- Good understanding of childcare and child development
- Adaptable to children’s needs
- Good communication skills
- Ability to listen to children and act on their behalf
- Flexibility to be part of the larger team around the child.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
