Job Description
About Us
The King’s community is dedicated to the service of society. Vision 2029 outlines transformative initiatives aiming to broaden the base of King's, extend our reach, expand access, deliver an extraordinary student experience and strengthen how well we work together.
Interdisciplinary Education is a new and growing team at King’s which is responsible for the development and launch of new strategic initiatives that will transform students’ experience of King’s within the framework of the University’s Strategy.
Interdisciplinary Education is a cross-King’s initiative which brings together academics from across our faculties with a central team within the Students and Education Directorate. SED is a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so.
About the Role
The Researcher: Interdisciplinary Education will lead our evaluation of inter-disciplinary modules and research on students’ and tutors’ experience of interdisciplinary education. Working closely with the Associate Director and all members of the Interdisciplinary Education team, the researcher will lead a programme of research and evaluation which creates a sound evidence base for our interdisciplinary education. The postholder will design a creative range of evaluation strategies and coordinate their use across a growing community of interdisciplinary educators. The postholder will work with students and staff, developing rapport and encouraging critical engagement with evaluative data that the postholder and other team members generate.
This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to work in an innovative HE context, and who wish to utilise their expertise in participatory formative evaluation and evaluation of impact. This is an opportunity to grow your skills in strategically focused and mixed methods research.
This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.
This is a full-time post, but we welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible work pattern that is consistent with the needs of the work.
This is currently a hybrid working role with both work from home and on campus. The role will be based in our department, currently at Bush House, with a requirement to travel to other campuses.
Key responsibilities
  • To design and lead research and evaluation on interdisciplinary education using creative strategies that provide both formative data and evidence of impact.
  • To analyse the implications of a range of quantitative and qualitative data sets for the purpose of providing frequent interim reports and comprehensive final reports.
  • To convey findings in ways that stimulate reflection in order to promote evidence-based inclusive learning and teaching practices
  • To consult with staff and students and advise on future evaluation strategies in interdisciplinary education at King’s.
  • To play a full and collegial part as a member of the Interdisciplinary Education Team
  • To collaborate with colleagues in other teams, such as What Works, and other education researchers across the College on relevant projects.
The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
