Job Summary
The Institute of Behavioral Science at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) encourages applications for a Temporary Researcher.
Drs. Jessica Finlay (CU Boulder) and Michael Esposito (University of Minnesota) are conducting a qualitative research project in Summer-Fall 2023 funded by the National Institute on Aging. Seated and mobile interviews across the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area will investigate how people navigate their surrounding communities in ways that may be beneficial to their health and wellbeing. Early research suggests that neighborhood amenities and hazards can promote or limit health behaviors that have important consequences for healthy aging, particularly for outcomes like Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias. Overall, the project advances understanding of how where one lives may lead to inequalities in cognitive health outcomes as people age. This research may inform policymaking and community interventions to invest in underserved neighborhoods and create more equitable opportunities for healthy lifestyles across the lifespan.
Who We Are
The Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS) is a research institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. Since its establishment in 1957, IBS has provided a setting for interdisciplinary collaborative research on problems of societal concern. By engaging faculty from all the social and behavioral sciences, IBS encourages work that transcends disciplinary boundaries, that illuminates the complexity of social behavior and social life, and that has important implications for social policy.
IBS is organized into five research programs, each defined by an interdisciplinary area of research and directed by a senior research scientist. Three programs have centers that specialize in research topics consistent with the broader goals of the Program.
