An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Technician within an internationally recognised research group in a vibrant and stimulating environment at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN). We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join an exciting project at the translational medicine interface in motor neuron disease.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with relevant experience to join a team of researchers under the direction of Dr Richard Mead. You will be responsible for supporting a collaboration with Drishti Discoveries, a Biotech company, to assess AAV9-based gene therapies in models of ALS. The candidate should be passionate about neurodegenerative disease research, ideally with a track record of technical skills in this area.
Your main responsibilities will be to assist with running in vivo experiments to assess the potential of novel gene therapies. You will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience / Biological Sciences or other related field, and ideally hold a personal license (PILA/B, with PILC desirable). You will have prior experience working in vivo, ideally with rodents. Experience with molecular and histological techniques such as tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry will be viewed favourably. Team spirit and a strong work ethic are essential in this dynamic group that values teamwork and cohesion. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are expected.
