The post

The faculty wishes to recruit a Research Technician to support the work of Dr. Akshay Bhinge. This MRC funded post is available from June 15th 2023 until June 14th 2024. The successful applicant will work with Dr. Bhinge in understanding the role of WNT signalling in motor neuron disease.


The post will include maintenance of human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) cultures, freezing stem cell culture stocks, maintaining neuronal cultures and assaying neuronal phenotypes using immunostaining, automated imaging and quantitative RT-PCR. Additionally, the candidate will help with routine lab maintenance.


About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.


Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will have some experience in lab-based research especially related to tissue culture, imaging and immunostaining techniques. The applicants will also have experience in molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR and cloning.
