To be part of a motivated team. Working independently and within a team
mainly in community and as required other settings providing a high
standard of quality clinical care. To assess, diagnose, develop and
implement individualised care programmes for patients with a wide variety of clinical needs including vascular problems, diabetes, rheumatology.

The post holder will also be expected to plan and manage their own
domiciliary caseload, support podiatry assistants, newly qualified staff and students.

An opportunity has arisen for suitably qualified clinicians to deliver Podiatric care in a variety of community clinics and domiciliary settings throughout Ealing.

The successful candidates will be joining a progressive and forward-thinking team who share a great passion and vision in improving care for patients with Podiatric Conditions.

We are looking for a Podiatrist (0.8WTE 4 days per week) You should be an enthusiastic and highly motivated Podiatrist, with the ability to work autonomously delivering patient care including the management of high-risk patients, Biomechanical/Musculoskeletal conditions and Nail Surgery.

You will be responsible for the assessment, treatment planning and treatment of patients on a daily basis.

You should be highly organised, working on your own initiative. You should be aware of professional and national guidelines, be up to date with current best practice and be able to demonstrate your interest in continued professional development and clinical audits.

Applications are invited with BSc /Diploma in Podiatry HCPC registered podiatrists with twelve months continuous experience in a wide range of podiatry specialisms who are keen to advance their clinical and professional skills.

1. To work in accordance with the College of Podiatry and Health and Care Professions Council Code of Professional Conduct including scope of
professional practice

2. To be responsible for the assessment diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of Podiatric care to a variety of patients with a wide range of clinical needs including patients with Diabetes; Chronic Neuropathy; Chronic disease e.g. Rheumatoid Arthritis; Vascular problems, Terminally ill patients and patients with Physically/Mental Health/Learning Difficulties

3. To be responsible for the assessment of new patients with subsequent production of individual care packages and provision of the appropriate footcare education advice to patients.

4. To have the ability to use the decision making process to identify when patients require the intervention of other professional and/or departmental specialist areas by following agreed departmental referral pathways e.g. acute wound care/biomechanics.

5. To identify risk factors and categorise patients into appropriate risk banding. To refer to specialist services as required and be responsible for the production of temporary insoles.

6. To perform diabetic assessment review clinics where duties will include: providing a comprehensive annual review assessment to including sensory, vascular analysis and biomechanical assessment7. To participate in the departmental nail surgery delivery

8. To have highly developed physical skills, precision hand/eye co-ordination which involves highly skilled debridement techniques of acute/chronic, neuropathic and ischaemic wounds, often for long periods.

9. Care will be provided mainly in a range of primary care settings, involving working on your own in community clinics, patients’ homes and nursing/care/residential homes for the elderly.

10. To have the capability to move and handle patients who may be immobile, wheelchair or bed-bound often in confined spaces.

11. To be actively involved in the provision of Foot Health Education advice to patients, relatives and carers.

12.To be actively involved in the development and implementation of Departmental policies and procedures.

13.To be responsible for the maintenance and security of stock.

14.To be flexible and provide cover for other Podiatrists at short notice or during periods of absence.

15.To follow departmental Policies Procedures and Guidelines but have the discretion to make own clinical diagnosis and decisions within professional boundaries.

16: Lead on a specific area for team development i.e. safeguarding, infection control, health and safety and first aid etc

17: Will hold a domiciliary caseload to manage and arrange.

18: Will support any audits/research/quality improvement projects in the team
