The post is in Ethical Tissue (ET), a fully licenced human tissue bank at the University of Bradford. The post holder will be a highly motivated research technician with lab experience in a biomedical and/or clinical laboratory environment using human tissues. The post holder will provide full technical and administrative support to the ET manager and research nurse. Main duties will include assisting with general lab management with responsibility for human tissue/fluid sample receipt, sample data logging, frozen or other storage and safe disposal, all under Human Tissue Act compliance and safe practises working with human tissue. The position requires accurate and ordered recording of information and data and database management. Some projects involve working with healthy human volunteers, and training in phlebotomy would be an advantage. The position will require travelling (normally by taxi) to sample collection sites in local hospitals with the ET manager or research nurse when additional resource is needed. The post holder will be an excellent communicator as this is an external customer and patient facing role and will suit someone with such relevant experience. This position will also involve primary cell culture and histological support to ongoing projects and the post holder will be expected to make a positive contribution to the design of studies and in applications for funding.

Your skills and attributes for success:
BSc or higher degree in relevant subject or equivalent
- Working with minimum supervision and taking responsibility for setting and meeting targets
- Handling and analysis of human clinical samples
- Working with and collaborating with academic staff
- Working with Hospital staff and interaction with patients
- Managing data and databases
- Previous laboratory work especially regarding handling human tissues and blood samples
- Specific training in phlebotomy is an advantage
