About us
The Cancer Institute, draws together research teams at UCL which focus on Cancer Biology and Translational Research, Experimental Cancer Therapeutics, and Clinical Cancer Studies. The Institute is a cross-disciplinary entity which promotes interdepartmental and cross-faculty learning and research.
About the role
The technician will be expected to mainly use the following techniques: Multiplexed tissue imaging, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry. DNA/ RNA extraction and library preparation protocols for sequencing. The technician may be expected to collect samples from Endoscopy/ Theatres once appropriate approvals are in place. The post is funded for 2 years in the first instance.
About you
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent, and experience in experimental skills in undertaking immunofluorescence or immunohistochemistry experiments, including selection of appropriate controls and review of staining. Experience of working with clinical samples, including undertaking sample collections and wet lab. experimental skills in using library preparation protocols for sequencing are desirable but not essential.
