Job description
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Research technician with a background in Immunology. The position involves conducting research in tumour immunology and contributing to the general running of the laboratory. This will involve assisting in sample collection and analysis for an Immunotherapy clinical study investigating biomarkers for response and toxicity in melanoma patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors with focus on the role of microbial metabolites.
The successful candidate will have a background in and enthusiasm for translational immunotherapy. They will have working experience of tissue culture, microarray and flow cytometry techniques and be expected to undergo training for processing clinical samples for translational research and other laboratory skills as required. The successful candidate will work closely with researchers and clinicians in the group investigating new clinical innovations in the immunotherapeutic treatment of cancer.
Key attributes of the successful applicant include:
- A degree in Biological Science, preferably at Upper second or First Class level, with relevant experience in Immunology.
- Enthusiasm for Immunology and experience studying immunology in a laboratory setting.
- Accuracy and high attention to detail including when under pressure
- High level of prioritisation and organisation to manage a high volume of work and priorities effectively
- Strong organisational, time-management and communication skills
- Enthusiasm and personal initiative to solve problems, a self-starter with ability to work unsupervised
