Job description
Are you an administrator with experience supporting diverse projects? Do you want to play a key role in the exciting, innovative research Dogs Trust does?
We love dogs. That’s why we do whatever we can to make sure every four-legged friend gets the love they deserve. We’ll never put a healthy dog down, so our work is focused on helping dogs in need, supporting owners every step of the walk, and creating a better world for dogs in the future. It’s what we’ve been doing since 1891 and how we’ve grown to become the UK’s leading dog charity, helping 12,000 loyal friends find their forever homes every year.
We are looking for a Research Team Administrator to help us ensure the smooth running of our research team, who ensure Dogs Trust leads the field with evidence-based standards of best practice for the dogs in our care, and further to inform individuals, organisations and governments on topics related to canine behaviour and welfare.
In this role, you’ll manage and deliver administrative activities within the research team, from day-to-day support to working on specific research projects, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who has an interest in behaviour, welfare or research. You’ll plan and organise regular meetings and conferences, including scheduling, planning and sending invitations, and note taking in meetings. You’ll also provide administrative support to the Head of Research and our Ethical Review Board, including diary, travel and expenses management.
To thrive in this role you’ll need strong attention to detail and organisational skills, as you’ll be dealing with multiple administrative projects simultaneously, managing different workloads and often changing priorities. You’ll have experience of organising large meetings and managing diaries, and the ability to identify when processes could be more efficient and implement changes. You’ll have excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with colleagues at all levels and in professional correspondence, with the initiative and discretion required when dealing with confidential matters. An interest in, and commitment to, the work of Dogs Trust (and particularly the Research team) is essential.
Strategy and Transformation is a new directorate which incorporates five departments: Research, Intervention Development, Learning and Organisational Development, HR, and Programme Office, as well as an EEDI team. These teams underpin and drive changes to our ways of working at Dogs Trust and play a key role in the implementation of our ten-year strategy.
While this role is home-based, it does require occasional travel to our London office when needed.
