Salary: Grade 7 (£36,333 - £43,155 depending on experience)

This role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

The Research Software Engineering team at Leeds works closely with our research colleagues to address the many challenging problems that research and innovation continually pose. The new investment includes a significant expansion of this team, and we are now looking for individuals who would like to work with data, technology and research to deliver the world of tomorrow.
As Research Software Engineer, you will help to explore, design, build and support innovative solutions to research computing problems and support our research community across a range of domains including Artificial Intelligence, bioinformatics, computational fluid dynamics, deep learning and data science. As part of a team, you will support University High Performance Computing service and the regional N8-BEDE and JADE-2 services, working collaboratively with researchers to help them devise and optimise workflows, models and codes. You will also have the opportunity to specialise your expertise to one of the following domains: computational fluid dynamics, artificial intelligence and deep learning or data science.
You will join a friendly, focused and growing team of Research Software Engineers and Infrastructure Specialists with a mission to provide the tools and skills to help improve the quality and delivery of research at the University of Leeds. A significant part of this role will include working with staff and students in a number of UKRI Centres for Doctoral Training that the University of Leeds is part of, as well as colleagues in the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA) and across the University.
Working in the Research IT team based within IT Services, as a Research Software Engineer, you will provide a range of technical software development, data management and cloud computing related activities to enhance research outcomes.
