InstaDeep is currently seeking Research Scientists to join our Quantum Machine Learning (QML) team in London. Quantum mechanics is at the heart to many of practical applications, including drug discovery, with machine learning (ML), high-performance compute (HPC) and quantum computing (QC) represent promising technologies to address the exponentially scaling complexity of quantum interactions. The QML team is dedicated to building expertise in the application of quantum theory, ML, and QC, with the goal of achieving quantum mechanical accuracy in a tractable manner. InstaDeep has always sought to apply novel approaches to the hardest and highest impact challenges in the world, and as a Research Scientist you will support this by bringing demonstrated expertise to help shape and deliver the research agenda of the QML team.
At InstaDeep, we have always pursued innovative approaches to tackle the most challenging and high-impact problems in the world. As a Research Scientist, you will play a key role in helping shape and implement our QML research agenda by bringing your demonstrated expertise to the table.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop novel research and help to shape InstaDeep’s agenda within the field of quantum machine learning.
- Contribute to team research and publications.
- Develop collaborations with both academic and industrial partners.
- Track ongoing developments in machine learning methods for quantum systems / quantum chemistry, quantum algorithms, applications and hardware.
- Report and present experimental results and research findings, both internally and externally, verbally and in writing.
- Upon request, collaborate with other groups’ activities, including but not limited to presenting the company to new prospective clients, participating in calls and meetings, and representing InstaDeep at conferences/events.
REQUIREMENTS
- PhD in quantum physics, computer science, machine learning or a related scientific field.
- Proven ability to contribute to research communities and/or efforts, including publishing scientific papers in leading journals or conferences.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
- Software development skills in Python.
DESIRABLES
- Experience with developing machine learning models in frameworks such as Jax, PyTorch or TensorFlow is highly desirable.
- Further experience with packages for quantum ML, simulation or calculations such as PennyLane, Qiskit and PySCF would be a plus.
- Experience, especially within the context of machine learning or quantum computing, with any of the following would be a plus;
- Quantum chemistry calculations
- Drug discovery
- Molecular dynamics
- Quantum hardware
- Error correction/mitigation for quantum devices
- Fault-tolerant quantum algorithms
