Job description
We’re looking for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the Laboratory of Dr Evelien Adriaenssens in the Food, Microbiome and Health programme at Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), based in Norwich, UK.
Background
The Adriaenssens group is embedded within the Food, Microbiome and Health and the Microbes and Food Safety Institute Strategic Programmes where we investigate the role of bacteriophages in both food and gut microbiomes and how we can use bacteriophages to improve health.
The role
The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will work on a set of exciting projects, including the analysis of the virome of the longitudinal gut microbiome studies in the institute, as well as the use of bacteriophages to prevent food-borne illness. The role will be partially lab-based and partially computational, offering great flexibility and opportunities for skill enhancement.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate has a PhD in Life Sciences, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering or equivalent, or is expected to finish within three months. Experience with the analysis of high-throughput sequence data is essential. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills and work well independently, as well as in a team, and will have a strong track record of research outputs commensurate with the level of experience.
Additional information
Salary on appointment will be within the range £34,950 to £43,750 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post for a contract of 3 years.
