Senior Scientist - Biology
Salary: £40,000 - £58,000
Location: University of Bath, Bath
Cellular Agriculture are looking for an Senior Scientist to deliver cutting edge biological research and development for cultivated protein manufacture. The Senior Scientist - Biology is a role which combines project ownership, small project team supervision, and hands-on laboratory-based delivery to make significant strides forward in cell line and media co-development aligned to wider technology developments. This exciting Senior Scientist role in a growing team will leverage the holder's deep expertise in cell biology, molecular biology and related areas.
As a Senior Scientist your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage the cell culture aspects of the R&D programme, underpinned by a deep understanding of cell biology.
- Lead feedstock screening, including cell sourcing and media formulation testing for cultured meat research.
- Work with colleagues and partners to develop, standardise and embed analytical methods.
- Design and execute an experimental programme alongside colleagues and external partners.
- Provide technical input and perspective on IP, licensing and FTO matters.
- Identify new equipment and processes to assist in technology commercialisation or time/cost savings for the wider R&D team’s activities.
- Preparation of uniform and accurate documentation and reports.
To succeed as a Senior Scientist, we ask that you have the following experience:
- Strong practical laboratory or industrial experience.
- Ability in delivering complex commercially driven biotechnology solutions.
- Demonstrable commercial awareness, or a keen interest to learn.
- Knowledge of cellular mechanisms e.g. cell signalling, and the implications for product development.
- Knowhow in molecular and analytical biology, e.g. qPCR, sequencing, gel electrophoresis, proteomics, chromatography, histology, microscopic and spectroscopic analysis.
- Experience with HSE procedures in a lab or manufacturing setting.
