Research Scientist Remote
Job description
The candidate should have in-depth experience of conducting literature searches and have the ability to critically review literature and conduct meta-analysis of collected physiological, biological and clinical data. Experience in vitro in vivo extrapolation techniques, in pharmacokinetic modelling and a good understanding of drug pharmacokinetics will be needed. Evidence to show critical assessment of clinical trial protocols and carrying out research independently will be considered a plus. The post holder will be expected to assist with on-going customer support, education, and training related to the use of the Simcyp Simulator and to act as tutor on the workshop programmes.
The successful candidate will join an internationally recognised, multidisciplinary research team, providing opportunities for further development of knowledge and skills. The post does not include routine laboratory or clinical work. We offer a unique and exciting mix of academic and commercial environments which encourage regular attendance at scientific meetings as part of our continuous education programs.
- Active involvement in research and development of mechanistic models implemented within the Simcyp Simulator including collating, reviewing and analysing population, physiological, biological, drug and clinical data for developing various PBPK/PD.
- Help compile in vitro, physiological, biological and clinical data for development of various physiologically based pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PBPK-PD) models for small and large molecules.
- An initial focus will be on helping with the management and technical work on two grants related to virtual bioequivalence assessment and formulation-related modelling for dermal products.
- Take on a substantial role in testing the Simulators before and after the release.
- Tutoring at focused and full workshops when and if needed.
- Dealing with client queries and take part in clients’ site visits and on-site education.
- Active involvement in consultancy and grants projects when required.
- Disseminating the outcome of research as poster/podium presentation and publications.
- Assisting with the research and development of externally funded projects g., grants.
- Develop the capability to manage other scientists according to Certara’s practice.
- Maintaining an active interest and awareness of new research and technologies relevant to the field, expanding your field expertise, and disseminating these within the team.
6-month targets
- Develop a general understanding of the PBPK models, model building, simulation, sensitivity analysis and parameter estimation methods implemented in the Simulators.
- Work as a member of VBE and Dermal FDA grant project teams to deliver the grants deliverables to the satisfaction of the relevant project leads.
- Get familiar with the QA procedures applying to the Simcyp Division.
- Attend at least one Simcyp focused workshop.
Essential
- PhD or equivalent experience in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology or related discipline.
- Understanding and experience in modelling and simulation of physiological and biological systems.
- Interest in and knowledge of in vitro to in vivo
- Demonstrable skills in literature searching and data compilation and analysis.
- Demonstrable communication skills, as evident by presentation at scientific meetings, and good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Desirable
- Hands on experience in Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetics modelling and simulation.
- Scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
