Full Time Witney, England 48760 - 37852 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Bring your passion, ideas and purpose to life in a company that can truly help you achieve your full potential.

Abbott is about the power of health. For more than 130 years, Abbott has been helping people reach their potential — because better health allows people and communities to achieve more. With a diverse, global network serving customers in more than 160 countries, we create new solutions — across the spectrum of health, around the world, for all stages of life. Whether it’s next-generation diagnostics, life-changing devices, science-based nutrition, or novel reformulations, we are advancing some of the most innovative and revolutionary technologies in healthcare. At Abbott, you can work with great people to help our patients and customers live their best lives.

World Leader in Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Centre of Excellence in Witney for the development and manufacture of electrodes and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The site has been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist to join our R&D team to provide scientific expertise across the ADC product range and for technical collaboration with Engineering, Regulatory, Commercial, Quality, Clinical Affairs and Research & Development organisations worldwide.

Joining one of our sensor development teams, your main responsibilities will include leading a small technical team in new product development and transfer, on-market product improvement programmes as well as supporting wide ranging investigative activities. You will be involved in development projects with scope ranging between small to large volume manufacturing across laboratory and production environments, as well as early-stage feasibility projects and development of a portfolio of new technologies for Abbott to explore, to support continued execution of innovation and progress in the development of sensor technology. At Abbott, you can shape your career whilst helping to shape the future of healthcare.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual, able to manage a multitude of interrelated activities with varying priorities, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. You will bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with preference given to those with prior technical management experience and exposure to collaboration with both multiple internal cross-functional groups and external contacts, including industry technology leaders. You will be degree qualified, preferably with a Chemistry bias, and ideally bring experience in medical device development and transfer and/or polymer science.

Abbott has health/wellness and financial benefits that help provide security for you and your family. In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a defined-contribution pension scheme, a share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements. Of course, things are a little different right now, but in general, we like to help our employees live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in, including onsite allotments, couch to 5k campaigns, bee keeping, yoga and more!
