Applications are invited for a Cancer Research Project Manager to work within both the Lindsay and Wedge groups, Division of Cancer Sciences at The University of Manchester. The post is based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust site in Withington. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating activities and deliverables for the HORIZON Cancer Genome Interpretation (CGI) clinics project. The CGI-Clinic project is designed to harness data-driven cancer genome interpretation for personalised cancer treatment within Horizon Europe cluster Health. They will also support national research studies.
The post holder will preferably have experience of setting up and managing projects within the biological or clinical research environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth management of the individual clinical and translational research projects and the production of deliverables and milestones, on time and within budget. The post holder will: use specialised knowledge to advise on funding strategy; ensure deadlines for grant applications are met; work effectively across complex research organisations; be able to take initiative where necessary; identify and breakdown tasks required for a multidisciplinary research group project; delegate and assign tasks to others.
You will play a key role in supporting and developing research in order to maximise the research output of the academic investigators, develop strong relationships and work alongside clinical and non-clinical colleagues both locally and internationally within the CGI-Clinics project community.The position offers an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communication, IT, and organisational skills, and will be able to work with minimal supervision.
