About us
UCL School of Pharmacy is one of the world’s leading centres of excellence for pharmaceutical science, education and professional engagement. The Division has a well-established track record in high quality research across a broad range of drug discovery, pharmacy and patient safety related areas as well as in the development of spinout companies bringing new therapeutic strategies to the patient. The Research Department of Pharmaceutical and Biological Chemistry comprises 19 academic staff and 7 support staff, and has a long and highly successful track record of research in Medicinal Chemistry, Molecular Neuroscience and Pharmacognosy. Chemistry is a core component of the Masters in Pharmacy professional degree with teaching across all four years of the course. Additionally, the Department offers three taught postgraduate Masters in Science courses namely Drug Discovery, Drug Discovery and Pharma Management, Pharmacognosy and a Master of Research (MRes) in any of the research disciplines of the Department.
About the role
We are seeking to recruit a Research Project Co-ordinator to form part of the UCL medicinal chemistry core of the new $63M READDI-AViDD consortium funded by the NIH to develop novel, direct-acting antivirals in advance of the next pandemic. The team will manage hit-to-lead chemistry, protein expression and assay development and the broader interactions of the core with other parts of READDI-AViDD mostly in the US. The research will be carried out according to the open science principles of the Structural Genomics Consortium. This opening represents a rare and exciting opportunity to make a major international contribution to pandemic preparedness through basic research
About you
The ideal candidate should have experience in managing scientific research teams to coordinate the day to day operations of the Core.
